Saddleworld Representatives Visiting Perth

Representatives of the long established Saddleworld group are currently visiting Perth looking to establish a new presence in Western Australia.

The Saddleworld brand is well known in Western Australia and until recently had a strong local presence in several locations.

Saddleworld began in 1986 and is now a strong group of forty eight independently owned retail stores specialising in saddlery & associated equestrian products.

Saddleworld’s head office and warehouse is situated in Bendigo, Victoria and services its stores by sourcing products from Australia and around the world as well as offering many support services, such as accounting and marketing.

Saddleworld has a strong affiliation with manufacturers of some of the world’s best equestrian products such as, Kieffer, Pessoa, Trainers, and Professional’s Choice and has spent many years developing its house brands, Grainge and Eurohunter, as well as stocking many other household names.

Amongst Saddleworld store owners there are many accredited Saddle fitters and many who are personally involved in the equestrian community through riding, competing, training, coaching or as ‘horsey’ parents.

Saddleworld also sponsors many events and organizations such as, The Saddleworld Dressage Festival, The Australian Youth Showjumping Festival and The Pony Club Association of Victoria and riders including Gill Rolton, Steve Jefferys, Judy Dierks, Mary Hanna, Megan Jones, Di Jenkyn, Sue-Ellen Lovett, Shane Davidson and Kim Cameron.

Saddleworld as yet have not yet disclosed details of any new locations in Western Australia but hope to make an announcement in the near future.

"As yet Saddleworld are not in a position to formally announce any new members in Western Australia. It is fair to say however that we have been in discussions for several months with a prominent local store.Representatives of this store visited Saddleworld stores on the East Coast last month as well as meeting with Saddleworld Board members and visiting Bendigo head office.

Located in a key area that is seen as a high priority area to re-establish the Saddleworld brand in Western Australia we are hoping to finalise discussions within the next few days. We are very excited to have arguably the most progressive and dynamic store in Western Australia looking to join our group. With their commitment to quality products, top class customer service and their growing prominence in the marketplace it can only bring great benefit to the valued clientele of Saddleworld in Western Australia"

 EVENTING NEWS

FEI NEWS - 06/06/2008 - New Eventing Rule in Place for the Olympic Games

The IOC and the FEI Bureau have approved the proposal of the FEI Eventing Committee and Safety Sub-Committee regarding a change of rule for Eventing to apply for all events as of 1 August 2008 including the Olympic Games.

The new rule states that horses AND riders will be eliminated after ONE fall at fence at Cross Country and in the Jumping test. According to the rules currently in place, horses are eliminated after a first fall and riders after a second fall.

The reason for the change is firstly medical given the difficulty to evaluate the gravity of a fall which can result in a mild concussion. A subsequent lapse in judgment exacerbated by a concussion could result in serious injury.

Report  on 2008 Wooroloo 3DE

The “Prestige Loans” 2008 Wooroloo 3DE International Three Day Event, was held over the recent long weekend at the SEC and Wooroloo Prison Farm. Unfortunately, with Sonja and Deon away campaigning in the eastern states there were insufficient entries for the CIC***.  We shall be keeping our fingers crossed for Sonja and Jag on 4th July, when the Olympic Eventing team will be announced. Although, the CCI** had the same amount of starters as last year, the entries in all other classes increased from 2007, which was great.

DRESSAGE

MAHOGANY  1997 – 2008

It has been overwhelming to receive so many e-mails, cards, phone calls, flowers and sms messages from so many people from many corners of the world offering their condolences and well wishes which I must say along with the support of my friends, family and workmates has been tremendously comforting and helpful to get through a very difficult time. For that I am very grateful to all of you

It has been a very sad time and a loss creating an emptiness far greater than one would have ever imagined….. however .. life must go on so I have made myself busy, at work as well as poor Rocky coping a pounding every morning in an effort to fill the shoes of our mate. Moggs was an awesome horse who taught me an amazing amount not just about the training of a dressage horse but also understanding horses in general. If nothing else I owe it to him to continue this learning, something that I have grown to love so have made the decision to take it to the next level and have booked myself a flight to Germany next week where I have been very fortunate to secure a riding position in a very large stable.

I would also like to thank the many people that have been involved and helped in so many ways on the wonderful journey and experiences that I shared with Moggs. These people know who they are and I thank each and every one of you for your contribution towards one of my greatest lifetime experiences which I shared with an amazing creature.

As much as we had so much unfinished business and he was taken long before he reached his pinnacle I strongly believe everything happens for a reason and choose to think he stepped aside for me to continue on the journey that he started and to make way for opportunities that would possibly not have otherwise evolved.

Mogs inspired me to get out of bed early every morning, he inspired me to work hard, be dedicated & diligent, he inspired me to get fit and stay healthy, he was the other half of our partnership that shared one of my greatest challenges ever, to learn to ride dressage and I hope that he touched some of you in the way he did me to give you encouragement to pursue your dreams.

Wayne Kiely.

FEI NEWS - 11/06/2008 - CAS dismisses provisional measures requestested by Jessica Kürten

Following the decision of the FEI Tribunal in the positive medication case involving the horse Castle Forbes Maike ridden at CSIO 5* La Baule in May 2007, the person responsible - Jessica Kürten (IRL) – filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 5 June 2008. She also requested that the sanctions imposed by the FEI Tribunal, which include a two-month ineligibility period, be stayed until a final decision was rendered by CAS. After examining the latter request and consulting with the FEI, the CAS ruled that the request for a stay had to be dismissed. Jessica Kürten is therefore suspended for two months, starting from 7 June to 6 August inclusive. The rider and her national federation have been informed.
