Early Bird Offers to those that renew their membership in June!

 

You should have received your Membership Renewal in the mail this week. Thanks go out to those volunteers who helped get the envelopes “stuffed” and out in the mail so promptly.

 

We are offering an EARLY-BIRD FEE to all current EFAWA members who pay their membership fees between 1st and 30th June 2008. Please check the website for these fees. We encourage you all to renew online as it is fast, hassle free and paper friendly to the environment!!!

 

Please remember when renewing online to make sure that you check your full details (postal address, telephone numbers, email) to ensure they are current and up to date – we also ask that you pay particular notice to your email addresses – check they are correct and make amendments where appropriate.

 

To those renewing through snail mail, please ensure that you WRITE your changes CLEARLY.

Student members must please remember to forward a copy of their current student card to the office to receive the full “student membership benefits”.

Dressage State Championships: 14th – 15th June

This event still requires pencillers and gear checkers.

Jill Stanton Memorial Dressage Day – Serpentine H&PC:  22nd  June

This event requires dressage pencillers

Showhorse Newcomers: 12th – 13th July

This event requires show ring pencillers

Harvey 2DE : 18th – 21st July

This event has an enormous variety of different roles!!  They require helpers for setting up on the Friday and dismantling on the Monday.  They  will also require the usual dressage pencillers, gear checkers and jump judges but also people to run refreshments to and fro and also people to help with the admin in the eventing office!! 

Night of Stars – 26th July:  One person needed

The Night of Stars needs people to man the doors.  You get to see the action with dinner thrown in!!!

 

  Free First Aid training course – GET IN QUICK

This complimentary online course may be ideal for you and comes courtesy of St John Ambulance. Spending 30 minutes online is all it takes to learn the basic first aid knowledge that could save another person's life.

This FREE, fun and interactive course shows you how to recognise an unconscious person and provide basic first aid such as CPR, bleeding control and recovery position. You can complete the course at one time or go back to it at your own convenience. You even receive a certificate at the end.

It will only take 30 minutes of your life to learn how to save another.  Please let me know if you complete it & send me a copy of your certificate!!

If riders have qualifying percentages, you should send in your applications for a performance medal as soon as you have the three qualifying scores.

Applications are taken all year and the cut off point is December 31st.

WADYRA (WA Dressage Young Rider Association) is holding its second Interclub Dressage Challenge.

This event is being held on October 19th 2008 and is open to all Dressage Clubs.  Entry Forms, Commentary Forms, a Test Explanation Sheet, a Flier and copies of the tests can be found on via the calender link.  Rosettes will be awarded with the winning team receiving rugs donated by Trenton Park Warmblood Stud and Equestrian Centre.

"The Wadyra 2008 Interclub Challenge is open to all dressage clubs.  Riders will competing, using FEI tests it should be noted that there will be no age or height restrictions on this day.  Queries to Theresa Marshall - 0407 078 081."

 

Swan Valley Dressage Association

Mitavite FEI Young Rider Challenge
WADYRA will be hosting the inaugural Mitative FEI Young Rider Challenge on Saturday 30th August 2008 at the Walliston Pony Club grounds. It will comprise of the Preliminary FEI Childs, Pony, Junior and Young Rider tests. Each of these tests has specific requirements for eligibility regarding age and horse to enter these FEI classes. For the Young Rider tests there will be a Derby for the top 3 YR similar to that done at the Aachen Challenge.
With young rider development in mind, Mitavite are proud sponsors of this event. WADYRA by hosting this event hopes to further develop and encourage upcoming young riders in Western Australia.

EFA WINTER GALA AND SADDLES PLUS NEWCOMERS

 

PLEASE NOTE that there is an addition to the Newcomer events – with the inclusion of a Newcomer Show Hunter section .Anyone who has already entered the Newcomer Showhorse event who wishes to change over to the Newcomer Show hunter event can do so by e-mailing  or phoning Nikki Chivers on showhorsewa@equestrian.org.au or 0408959286.

See website for amended program. These additional classes will be held on the Saturday along with Show Hunter open classes.

Appointed judges for the weekend are Wendy Hunt (SA) and Sharon Lewis-Tipping (VIC) .

AHIC Survey

Future Disease Control in the Australian Horse Industry

The Equine Influenza outbreak hit the horse industry severly. The Australian Horse Industry Council (AHIC) is continuing to research the horse industry and provide government with strategic advise on industry needs.

This survey asks about how we should think about disease outbreaks in the future.

This information will also be essential in making submissions to Governments about future disease response.

The second term for two Directors will expire at the 2008 AGM in November. This will create two vacancies to be filled by elections by the Branches.
