EFA CLUBS

2009 Dates applications will be included in the Club Pack that is being sent out this week.

So that Sports Committee can plan their sports season’s fixtures for 2009 clubs are encouraged to send their dates request into the office to be returned by the no later that   1st of August.

The EFAWA are hosting a Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday 22nd May.

Come along dressed in your best riding gear or your dirtiest horse grooming gear – your choice.

Tere will be plenty of yummy goodies on offer –

cakes, muffins, cookies and of course Tea and Coffee!!

The Biggest Morning Tea campaign is run to help raise money for Cancer Research.

Each cup of tea will be $5.00, and ALL money raised will be sent directly to The Cancer Council

CONGRATULATIONS to Keely Duggan on her selection as a reserve junior rider to represent Australia at the CSIJ on 18-23 June 2008 in Daegu, Korea.  Keely was selected out of an overwhelming number of applicants to this prestigious event.  Well done Keely!

EFA WA - Eventing Officials Seminar

May 30th, June 1st & 2nd at Perth Horse Trials

FEI CCI*, CCI* and CCN Pre Novice National 3DE.

This seminar is open to all interested in officiating at Horse Trails and will run during the horse trails.  Particiapants will learn about the roles of officials with input from International XC course designer Wayne Copping as well as other presenters.

Please join us for an informal workshop with guest presenter Anne Maree Lourey from NSW.

·        Ann-Maree has been an accredited NCAS coach with the EFA for almost 20 years and is now a specialist Level 2 dressage coach with Grand Prix and FEI level pupils.

·        Ann-Maree ;has almost 20 years of dressage judging to her credit – currently an advanced level judge (C Level) and one of only two NSW mentor judges below FEI level.

This represents an ideal environment for riders looking to improve their dressage and interested people to learn some of the fundamentals of judging dressage.

DRESSAGE JUDGES TASKFORCE

 

National Rider Survey

The ADC and NDJC have decided to conduct the same survey again this year and this was foreshadowed in the summary of the ADC meeting held in February 2008. The survey questions are the same as they were in 2006 so that we can compare the results and assess whether or not the strategies that were put in place have been effective. Completed questionnaires are to be returned to me no later than 30 May 2008. I will collate the responses and send them out to each state for their information.  Click HERE for questionaire.

This weekend event will be held at the Pony Club grounds located at 332 Queen Elizabeth Avenue Busselton.  Spectators very welcome.  Free admission. SWAN RIVER SHOWJUMPING CLUB AT BROOKLEIGH

Following its successful inaugural show in April, SWAN RIVER SHOWJUMPING CLUB will run its second competition of the series at Brookleigh Estate on Sunday, 25 May.  Competition starts at 8.30am, with the course open for walking at 8am. Cash prizes awarded in all classes: 90cms open and Junior “B”; 1.05m open/maiden D;  1.15m/ D Grade/Junior “A”;  1.25m/ C Grade/ Young Rider; and A & B Grade. Placings count toward High Points winners at the final 2008 show. Entries close Tuesday, 20 May and should be sent to Geradine Miocovich, 99 Albert Road, Middle Swan 6056. No entries on the day. Note, there are discounted entries for members. Spectators are welcome and arena-side refreshments are available for purchase throughout the competition. On-site camping is available and can be pre-arranged by directly contacting Nikki or Lee at Brookleigh. Busselton H&PC, EFA Showjumping Committee and Perth Horse Trials present -

Course Designer’s Seminar with John Wilsher.

1. Busselton Horse & Pony Club will by holding a course designing seminar with visiting International Course Designer John Wilsher in conjunction with their 2 day Gala Showjumping fixture on the 31st May & 1st June. The course will include all levels of  course design from beginners competitions to international classes.

2. The EFA WA Jumping committee will also be holding a one day seminar with John Wilsher at the State Equestrian Centre Brigadoon on the Monday 2nd June in conjunction with the Jumping section of Perth Horse Trials 3 Day Event.

All current and prospective course designers, riders, parents and interested persons are encouraged to attend this outstanding opportunity to learn from one of Australia’s leading Course designers

This coaching course will be conducted on Sunday 25th May here at DSR - full day course. Cost $55 (includes manuals and worksheets)

ADVANCED LEVEL OFFICIATING GENERAL PRINCIPLES COURSE

This officiating course will be conducted on Wednesday 21st May and Monday 26th May - 6.30pm - 8.30pm.

THE SPORT & RECREATION CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

aims to equip participants with a better understanding of the sport and recreation industry, increased leadership skills and improved industry networks.

There are three exciting packages to choose from

Futures Package Offered to six students enrolled in at least a certificate III or first year sport and recreation related course.

Students receive the following package:

• Attendance at a national industry conference in Melbourne

• Attendance at the DSR Active conference

• Career consultation with a current industry leader

• A career mentor discussion with a current industry leader

• An opportunity to be involved in a sport and recreation peak body of their choice

• Framed certificate

Emerging Professionals Package Offered to six employees who have worked in the sport and recreation industry for a maximum of five years.

Recipients receive the following package:

• Attendance at a national industry conference in Melbourne

• Attendance at the DSR Active conference

• Career consultation with a current industry leader

• A career mentor discussion with a current industry leader

• An opportunity to be involved in a sport and recreation peak body of their choice

• Framed certificate

Recreation Mentor Package Offered to four employees with a maximum of five years experience who are partnered with an industry representative to undertake a formal process of mentoring.

The mentor process will ensure the exchange of skills, knowledge and expertise.

Employees will receive the following package:

• Mentoring sessions over a six month period

• Attendance at the DSR Active conference

• An opportunity to be involved with a peak body of their choice

• Framed certificate

Applications close 4pm June 20 2008. Successful applicants will be informed by July 25 2008.

The National Jumping Selectors have named the junior riders to represent Australia at the CSIJ on 18-23 June 2008 in Daegu, Korea.

Edwina Alexander and Itot du Chateau do well in Wiesbaden
They placed 3rd in the UPS Trophy competition on Sunday and 3rd again in the Wiesbaden Grand Prix on Monday, collecting 22,000 Euros in that class.
