DRESSAGE SUMMER SERIES - Report Week 3.

The Summer Series is nearly over and at the conclusion of Sunday’s events we have some pretty tight placings!!  Last week showed us some wonderful horses and tests, despite the unbearable humidity, so please cross your fingers for cooler weather this weekend!!

This Sunday we had heaps more people volunteer in the morning, many more so than in previous weeks, but unfortunately were still short of people in the afternoon.  I am still short of a few pencillers in the afternoon and gear checkers for both am and pm, so let me know if you can help out, and let’s see if we can get the same sort of support as last week  J

For the last day of competition we are having some good spectator classes.  We have the Para Equestrian freestyles at 8am in Arena 5 which should be good to watch, as well as the Walk Trot Fancy Dress at 11am in the Indoor, not to mention the FEI tests in the Indoor in the afternoon.

Presentations for Dressage for Kids will be mounted in the International arena at 2pm accompanied by a sausage sizzle for riders and family, so if you are in contention for a rug please be mounted in the International arena at 1:45pm.  The Master Series presentations will take place in the Bar area  at 6:30pm for Prelim, Novice, Elementary, Medium and Advanced and at 7:30pm after the Grand Prix for PSG and Inter I.  Please note that the upstairs bar will be open in the afternoon, so please support the bar and come up and have a drink in the air-con whilst watching the Advanced tests J

Please also note that the times for Medium training have changed, and can people also please have a look for scratchings on the day as you may be required to ride earlier.  And if you are scratching, please let us know before the day or as early as possible.

Hope to see everyone there, and good luck!!  Click HERE for Week 4 Draw and Leaderboard

Cheers

Jess

Congratulations

to Angela Carroll who is now on the Dressage Judges H Panel

SWAN VALLEY DRESSAGE ASSOCIATION - ATTENTION…. RIDERS, MEMBERS & INTERESTED PARTIES

At the inception of the Swan Valley Dressage Association (SVDA) I was asked to be Patron as recognition for my contribution of sponsorship to the sport and SVDA, for which I very proudly accepted.  I had no part in the formation of the SVDA or the subsequent running of the Association, but have come to the realisation more than sponsorship is needed if we are to be privileged with the many benefits SVDA has provided so many people.

I believe you, the members, would all agree the arrival of the SVDA on the 2007 calendar was a godsend, perfectly timed, very professional and provided us with competitions of a quality and atmosphere not witnessed previously in WA for a very long time.

Unfortunately like so many other sporting bodies, SVDA is experiencing the universal deficiency of human resources to administer its Association and provide competitions.

The question I ask you is:

Is the SVDA and what it provides important to you and do you care enough to see it continue ??????

If your answer is positive, I am appealing for you to join me at the Swan Valley Dressage Park on Saturday 16th February at 7.30pm for the Annual General Meeting, and jointly with a little bit of effort we can ensure the continuation of the opportunities the SVDA has provided us over the past season.

The ball is in your court, no attendance and we will lose an integral part of dressage in WA, so give this some serious consideration and round up as many interested people as you can to support this cause in whatever capacity, big or small, and together we could make a big difference.

I look forward to see you there…… WAYNE KIELY, Patron, Swan Valley Dressage Association.

If you are able to attend, please e-mail the Swan Valley Dressage Association at info@swanvalleydressage.com.au.   We will need some indication of numbers for catering.

VOLUNTEER NEWS

THE GREEN SHIRT WORKSHOP, 21st February 2008 5:30pm

Across Australia, most sports have difficulty recruiting, training and retaining officials.  Equestrian sport faces a crisis with the continuing decline in the number of officials and volunteers staying with the sport.  Harassment, abuse and lack of respect have been identified as major causes. The aims of the green shirt program are to:

  • Make volunteers and officials easily identifiable
  • Raise awareness, recognition and support of officials and volunteers
  • Assist in reducing pressure and lessening abuse
  • Create a culture of support

The Green Shirt Workshop aims to introduce new volunteers to pencilling and gear checking, and to create a social atmosphere for volunteers and officials to get to know one another. The evening will begin with an induction to pencilling and gear checking and then after a break with light refreshments, will follow with an open forum to discuss any issues and feedback regarding volunteering and officiating in equestrian sport.  Without your feedback, we cannot improve anything. If there are any issues you would like raised at the forum please email: volunteercoordinator@efawa.com.au

SCHEDULE

 5:30pm – Introduction to Volunteers, 5:45pm – Pencilling Workshop, 6:15pm – Gear Checking Workshop, 6:45pm – Break, 7:00pm – Green Shirt Forum. Please RSVP your attendance by 13th Feb 2008 to volunteercoordinator@efawa.com.au or 9296 1200.
