EFA WA E-News January 24th, 2008

Hello Everyone,

Well we really are back into the swing of things after the Xmas break with the summer series over the last two weekends and the EFA Awards night last Friday night .... in all a busy start to the year.  Don't forget January is Performance Card renewal month, so before you venture out to you first official comp for the year make sure you have renewed your card.

In 2008 we THANK Western Australian Department of Sport & Recreation, our Principal Partner and

EFA AWARDS NIGHT

The annual EFAWA Awards Night was held last Friday night at the beautiful Mulberry on Swan function centre.  There was a very good turnout on the night, with approximately 190 people in attendance to witness the awards.  It was amazing to see everyone all frocked up, instead of joddies and riding boots.  I must say that I had trouble recognising some people!

Nearly all of the winners and runners up were at Mulberry on Swan on the night to receive their awards, with only a couple of exceptions, and this made the night that much more special.

The meal was superb, and when all of the awards had been presented, there was a great crowd ready to party on the dance floor to complete their night.  It was a lot of fun.

Congratulations once again to the Winners and Runners up, and all the best for all of our members for the upcoming season.

REPORT ON WEEK TWO OF THE DRESSAGE SUMMER SERIES AND INFORMATION FOR WEEK TWO - PLEASE READ

Well....... the second competition in the Nagmart Saddlery Go for 2 & 5 Dressage Summer Series was just as successful as the first!!!  It was wonderful to see so many competitors and horses of all ages and all walks of life, getting out there and having a go, and all my thanks to those wonderful people on the ground making sure the event could run smoothly.
The weather was a bit cooler, and with a few less horses, the day was not quite so long!!
I would really like to extend my sincere thanks to those competitors who stepped forward and volunteered some time to help us pencil, gear check and score keep this week.  You may not have thought it helped that much, but it  made a massive difference to us.  Unfortunately, and it saddens me to say, that out of over 200 competitors this little group was only made up of less than 20 people!!
Once again I would like to offer the biggest thanks ever to my small group of vollies who are not competing themselves, not have family and friends competing, but have turned up each week to donate their time for the love of the sport.  We could all learn a thing or two from these people.
Although we had quite a few more volunteers this week there were still massive gaps, with some poor people gear checking and marshaling for four rings at once!!  I too found myself pencilling, gear checking and score keeping as well as trying to run the event, just to fill in the gaps!!  So for all those people, getting upset because they couldn't find me to deal with their questions, or put the results up more quickly, ask yourself "Did I offer to help?", and only a couple of you could answer yes!!
Kind Regards
