WA EFA E-News December 20th, 2007

Christmas Greetings to All

&

All the very best for the New Year!

From us all at the EFA WA.

Message from new EFA WA Chair - Joanne Bastian

To all those who have phoned and emailed to congratulate and welcome me to the Chair of the Branch Committee, I sincerely thank you. I will make every effort to serve the members well. I would also like to thank the Branch Committee members for their support and I look forward to working with them in the future.

As mentioned in last weeks email blast, I have been the Chair of EFAWA Show Horse for the past 3 to 4 years where we have doubled, and in some instances tripled entries at our events. This, coupled with the fact that I have been actively involved on the Intershools Committee and assisted with other EFA projects has given me some insight into the inner workings of our Branch. I am also Chair of the National Show Horse Committee where I have developed a great working relationship with our National office.

Although the effects of the Equine Influenza have been comparatively minimal in WA, it has still significantly impacted upon the 2007 competition season. As efforts continue to eradicate the virus interstate, the onus remains on all of us to be vigilant in the upkeep of the biosecurity measures.

My Christmas wish for all horse owners is an EI free country in 2008 where we can enjoy our sports to their fullest potential once again. Wishing all of our two and four legged members all the best for the festive season and I look forward to seeing everyone out and about in the New Year.

Happy Holidays

Joanne Bastian

All riders please be advised that the EFA will be offering measuring to all affiliated clubs with measuring bays in 2008 as per previous years.

The dates are being finalised and will be published on completion. Clubs are at liberty to apply for a minimum of 2 measuring dates. More may be organised depending upon the availability of measurers.

CLUBS: Please contact Karin Drummond with your dates as soon as possible. karinandkeely@bigpond.com

COST: The current $5 being charged is no longer adequate to cover the associated costs of the upkeep of measuring and our very generous volunteer measurers are often not reimbursed for their travel expenses. Therefore measuring will increase to $10 as of 1 January 2008.
