 EVENTING WA NEWS

Report on Gidge 2 CNC** November 24/25

Following the loss several events Gidge 2 provided riders with one final opportunity to compete in 2007

Thanks go to the hard working committee and friends – and especially to the fabulous sponsors who all said “yes” and allowed the competition to happen!

Saturday warmed for the dressage but Sunday saw a cool change, making conditions easier for the cross-country and showjumping phases.

The x-c track was well prepared, as always by Tom, with particular care going into the jump footings and quality of the going under hoof.

In all phases and in all classes the competition was intense.

Sonja Johnson and Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison (77.3) convincingly won the 2 star, with Kirsten Twining on Aya Soquili (117.9) finishing second.

The 1 star was almost too close to call with Sonja, this time on Kirby Park Irish Jeorge (58.6), winning in split second timing from Emma King on Kirby Park Irish Mist (58.8).  Ebony Smailes and Debonair (68.6) came third, with Vivian Pinter’s Mister Nelson (79.3) fourth, Kellie Herl and Simanda Park Picasso (93.9) in fifth and Gerda Cahill on Country Dance (134.9) in sixth.

In the Pre Novice, Anthonia Hartley riding Due Heed (51) finished first, followed by Sonja again, this time on Wrestwood Argonaught (62.8).  Rebecca James on Royal Intruder (68.2) came third, with Daisy Scott and Mosseto (79.4) fourth, Michelle Meylan on Highly Delighted fifth and Anna Lambeck on Chestnut Teal in sixth.

In the Junior Pre Novice less than a rail separated the first 3 places - with Sophie Derrick and Federal Bay (61) winning, ahead of Just Corona ridden by Makayla Wood (62.8) with Elizabeth Moore and Sebastian Bach (64.2) in third.  Anna Swan with Brady Bunch came fourth.

A single rail (again!) decided the result of the exciting Senior Prelim which was won by Philippa Collier and Mr Rompa Stompa (41.8) - from Deon Stokes and Gesusa Park Liability (43).  Ske Perry on Stomper (53.2) was third, just one point up on Wendy Brophy and Luke (54.2).  Vivian Pinter and Keyarba were right behind (55) with Vanessa Carter and Berkly Park (55.6) also contesting strongly.

The Junior prelim was well won by Rachel Ross and her very special Bonnie Dunn, who finished on their dressage score of 41.4.  Jacob Gliddon and Fenwick Pharoaph (52.2) was less than a rail ahead of Lauren Browne and Dakota Ultra Easy (54.4).  Samantha McGarry and Penleith’s Springbok (64.2) came fourth fractionally ahead of Elizabeth Moore on Leedale Distinctive Guy (64.4)!  In sixth place, just two points behind was Teegan Garner on Rafiki Rumour (66.4).

The Senior Intro 1 saw Joy Gray and Deltry Invader jointly share 37.8 points with Deon Stokes Delta Park Dancer – both finished on their dressage score with Joy being awarded the rug!

Natalie Hibbert on Heidi finished third (42.2) with Kirsty Whitnell and Danzarman (43.2) very closely behind.  Sophie Roberson on Lunden (45.4) finished ahead of Laurelle Hayes on Stardom (47.2).

The Junior Intro 1 was really close with seven points separating the first seven riders!  The rug was won by Leah Cruttenden and St Claire Topaz (52.2) just ahead of Emma Stent and Devil in Disguise (55.2).  Samantha McGarry with Watch Over Me (57.4) lost a rail and finished third, followed by Jessica Horn on Chesfield Alpha (58.7) in fifth and Kate Bremner on Freeling Heights Whisper (58.8) in sixth.  Lucy Vincent and Remba Park Vincent (58.8) were unlucky not to place.

In the Senior Intro 2 Sam Jones and Warigal Pk Tenebrae came first finishing on their dressage of 49.2 ahead of Teegan Lowings on GI Native Ritual (51.6) in second.  Michelle Hartwell and Mr Callahan (58.2) also went double clear to come third.

In the Juniors Teegan Gamer and Copperhead Road won the rug, from Shenae Lowings on Balaling Sonnet (63) and Cassie Choules on Balfour Bandit.
