WA EFA E-News November 22nd, 2007

Hi All,

A quick reminder to all who knew ex-showjumunping Chair John Torrens, a memorial service for John will be held this afternoon 3.00pm at Stewarts at Brookleigh.  All who knew him are welcome to attend.

Our eventers are winding up their season at Gidge 2 this weekend, good luck to all that have entered.  Don't forget EFA award nominations are now open.  This is your chance to recognise those who contiribute to our industry in the following areas: Volunteer, Coach, Event, Horse, Sports Star, Junior Sports Star,Official of the Years Awards as we as Special Contribution Award.  Further details below.

EFAWA Presents the

Bates Newcomers Award for Showjumping and Dressage  

Saturday 8th December at the SEC

Dressage final beginning at 8am in the indoor arena. 

Our WA Interschool qualifying team will have their presentations after the dressage

Followed by the Dressage presentations. 

The Showjumping final will begin in the indoor arena at about 11.30am

with their presentations straight after at about 1pm. 

 

Qualified Competitors - you have all received your invitations to compete.  If you are not intending to compete please contact Meredith at the EFA Office ASAP so that an invitation can be sent to the next qualified person.  Also, if you are intending on competing then please fill in and send your entries in ASAP.  Thanks.

 

Dressage WA Promotions Inc will also be holding the Horseland Dressage Young Horse Championship in conjunction with this event and the YH classes will take place on the International Arena. See further details in the Dressage Section below.

Gilbert Bockmann Returns to WA - December 12-14, SEC

The EFA High Performance Program has again made the Technical Director of Coaching, Gilbert Bockmann available to WA Squad members.  Gilbert Bockmann will coach WA National & State Squad Members Wednesday December 12th through Friday, December 14th, at the SEC.

GIDGE 2 NOV24/25

BIO-SECURITY

For the purpose of bio-security screening ALL COMPETITORS MUST ENTER the Gidge Showgrounds (for the entire weekend) USING THE PC ENTRANCE - OFF OLD COACH ROAD (WEST).

All competitors must bring signed Biosecurity declarations (available on EFA website) for each horse, each time they enter the grounds.

 

Note: The Gidge Hall is the local voting station for Saturday's General Election,

FLOATS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARK BY THE HALL.

 

But you may, of course, vote there!

 

AGRESSIVE COOL DOWN

There are two suppliers of ICE in Gidge.  Gidge Grog and Gidge BP. 

Both are on the main drag and will be well stocked.

Please note there will be no ice sold on the grounds.

 

MANURE!

Chaff bags will be strategically placed for your horse's manure - please, please use them.

The club has been asked not to put more manure around tree bases (in the showground area)!

Horse of the Year 2008

The National Show Horse Committee have decided that an extra class will be incorporated into State and National Horse of the Year events commencing 2008. Horse of the Year over 15h will now be split to Horse of the Year over 15h up to and including 16h and Horse of the Year over 16 hands.

 

The Riverside Riding Club "Festival of Hacks" Championship show 16th December.

The club will be presenting Rugs and Garlands for  both unofficial and Official: Champ Small Pony, Champ Large Pony , Champ Galloway and Champ Hack : Garland for Champ Show Hunter Pony and Show Hunter Hack; Garland for Champ Leading Rein and Champ First Ridden  events and Trophies for Champ Rider events.

Dressage WA Promotions Inc - Horseland Young Dressage Horse 2007

Saturday 8th December 2007 at the SEC.  Classes 4 year old, 5 year old and 6 year old.  This will be a 2 round competition as per the EFA rules attached. Please note that the Australian Young Horse finals competition is to be held at Dressage With the Stars (DWTS) in 10-12  April 2008 in Melbourne. Priorities for Dressage WA 2008 - 2011

As part of an on-going process in improving the sport of Dressage in WA, the Committee is reviewing the current Development plan. This will include asking all of you what you believe needs addressing now and over the next three years.  We are asking all of our stakeholders to fill in a questionaire and return it to  fiona@wacoss.org.au by December 10th.  Here is your opportunity to have an imput into the future directions of your sport.

The Equestrian Federation of Australia is recruiting volunteers for 2008.
The competition season starts as early as January and we will be requiring loads of volunteers for various roles. If you want some more involvement/experience in the sport or just a chance to meet more horsey people than this is an opportunity for you!! Volunteers become a memeber of the Horse Volunteers club and get offers such as hats, polo tops and social events!! So contact me to find out more!!

Visitors to the Centre will notice a large SEC aerial map on display in the EFA Foyer. This is for public comment regarding future Facilities Development and Upgrades. Should  members have any constructive comments or suggestions for new facilities then please feel welcome to add your ideas. DSR Funding will be available 2008/2009 for Project commencement.

Second place to Boyd Exell in FEI World Cup Driving Round 2
Australia’s Boyd Exell placed second by just 3.2 seconds in the second round of the 2007/08 FEI World Cup Driving series in Stuttgart (Germany) last Saturday (17 November). Winner of the round was Netherland’s driver Ijsbrand Chardon.

Matt Williams continues a successful European showjumping season
Young Australian showjumper Matt Williams, who is currently based in Belgium, had a successful weekend (10-11 November) at the Oldenburger Pferdetage (Oldenburg Horse Days) in Germany.

Postcard from Alycia
At the end of her first week in Germany Alycia Targa, Australia’s contender for the FEI Young Rider World Dressage Championships in December, has sent a note to let us know that both she and Neversfelde Kudu have settled in well at Gilbert Böckmann’s showjumping stables in Laptsrup, Germany.
