Equine Movement Ban - Saturday 25th August 2007

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

EQUINE MOVEMENT BAN !


On Veterinary advise, please adhere to the following:-  It is expected that an official ban for 72 hours on all movement of horses, will be put in place shortly.  Advice from the EFA National office is for all horse events to cease as soon as is practicable today, Saturday 25th of August 2007, and all horses to be taken directly to their place of agistment.  Horses should not be moved after this time, until further advice has been received, or the ban lifted.  This ban is due to increasing cases of equine influenza, reported for the most part in NSW, however as a precautionary measure the ban has taken effect nation wide.  Any persons with a horse/horses presenting with symptoms of equine influenza, being elevated temperatures, nasal discharge and coughing, should seek advice from their veterinary surgeon.  If you are aware of any fellow horse people, EFA members or non members, who may not be aware of this notice it is imperative that this message is passed on.  We will keep you updated as we recieve more information.
