SHOWHORSE WA NEWS.

COMBINED HORSE TRANSPORT - HORSE OF THE YEAR
Timetable is now available at www.showhorse-wa.com Work Outs are also available.
RECORD ENTRIES FOR HORSE OF THE YEAR 2007.
Entries have grown for the third consecutive year for EFAWA Show Horse – Combined Horse Transport Go for 2&5 Horse of the Year to be held at the State Equestrian Centre on 1 and 2 September.
The event will host 12 National qualifying classes from which the winner and runner up are eligible to compete at the Australian Championships to be held at Werribee Park later this year.  In 2006, WA was represented in 22 of the 24 qualifying positions which was the biggest team that has ever travelled to represent WA.  We hope to see the same this year.
Apart from the National qualifying classes, entries are well up in the state titles of Rural Horse and Rider of the Year and Intermediate Horse of the Year.
The event will be judged by 3 interstate judges and this year, the timetable has been adjusted so that all three judges can preside over the National qualifying classes.  This means that 3 opinions count as to who makes it to top 10 instead of one, providing a fairer method of judging.
There will be a free (for competitors) sausage sizzle early Saturday evening which will be a great social addition to the event.  Non competitors are also welcome to purchase meals.
For the first time, a small TRADE FAIR has been organised for the event.  Competitors and spectators will be able to browse the stands at their leisure over the 2 days seeing new products and services and some of our old favourites too.  Some retailers are travelling from Victoria and New South Wales to show their wares.

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SHOWMAN OF THE YEAR will be held in conjunction with Horse of the Year.  On Saturday 1 September, two riders from each state will contest the Australian title and Sunday will play host to the 4 top Australians, 4 riders from New Zealand and 4 from Singapore who will then contest the International final.

This weekend is shaping up to be a “must see” event.  The National Show Horse Committee are scheduled to hold a meeting in WA on Friday 31 August and many delegates are staying on to watch our WA Horse of the Year.  The other interstate visitors that are rumoured to be attending are several prominent breeders, riders and coaches.

Dressage Development Fund - Report on 2007 & 2008 Applications now available.
The Dressage Development Fund is a rider’s fund set up to support the development of dressage in Western Australia.  Each year the EFAWA’s dressage sub-committee, (dressageWA) identifies the priorities that will guide funding decisions for that year. The priorities must come from the strategic plan for dressage in Western Australia.  This fund IS NOT for ‘general’ dressage expenses. Money may only be released from this fund through a grant application process and clubs are notified of when the grant round is open and closed for each year.
2008 DDF Grants will be called in August 2007 and applications will be accepted until 30 October 2007.  [More]
